COVID19: NHL Update

Prudential Center – Wikipedia

The corona-virus has put the NHL on pause and league officials are trying to come up with a plan in order to salvage the season. Numerous plans and strategies have been discussed between teams and players on how to best move forward.

We don’t know when play will resume, but the league has laid out steps on how the teams will get back to playing. Self isolation is the first step for players to prepare themselves when it comes time to practice with teams at the rink. May 15th seems to be the deadline for team practice facilities to reopen in hopes that the teams can practice again and get back in shape. Campuses have been scrapped in terms of where the teams will play upon return, with 2-4 cluster city hubs being favored at this point. Minnesota, Las Vegas, Columbus, Dallas, Carolina, and Edmonton have been considered and examined for viability. Las Vegas seems to be the best option for not just the NHL but the NBA as well, due to the many arenas/stadiums and hotels for accommodating living conditions for the players. With no fans in attendance and temperature checks fro all personnel, Las Vegas seems to be the most likely option at this point because other states and regions are still under stay at home orders.
