San Jose Earthquakes 2 Minnesota United 5 – Match Report

After a thrilling draw with Toronto in week 1, the Quakes looked to improve and earn their first win of the season at home vs Minnesota United FC in week 2 of MLS play. Unfortunately the team was outplayed and ultimately lost 5-2 in a lackluster performance. Ike Opara scored two goals off corner pieces, which defensively the Earthquakes had no answer to. Overall the Earthquakes played poorly, unorganized, and could not stop the scoring onslaught, limping into halftime down 1-4. A goal in the 53rd minute by Vako sparked some life into the Quakes but it just wasn’t enough.

Matias Almeyda will need to identify what to improve on as the Earthquakes play their next game on the road at Philadelphia.
