SJSU Spartans vs UNLV College Basketball Game 2/29/2020

On Saturday I went to the SJSU college basketball game at the Event Center with my cousin. This was the final game of the season for the Spartans, having locked in their spot as the 10th seed for the Mountain West Basketball Tournament. The first half was very competitive, with the Spartans keeping the game close against the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebels. Unfortunately, the Runnin Rebels ran away with the game during the 2nd half, ultimately winning the game 92-69.

Overall the Spartans were simply outmatched and lacked the skill to play vs Las Vegas. Defensively SJSU made many mistakes and let the opponents make easy baskets and layups. On the other end of the floor, the Spartans had trouble scoring, going many stretches without making a basket as the Rebels made it very difficult to score with their strong defense.

The Mountain West Basketball Tournament starts this month, with the winner earning a automatic spot at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Although the odds and chances of a miracle run are very low, the Spartans still have a chance to make some noise and shock the world in Las Vegas.
